Maxim's from the Merry Widow (Lehar) sung by Harvey Hindermyer. (Columbia 33221) The cylinder is by ‘Columbia’, an innovative American company which set up European headquarters in Paris in 1897 and moved to London in 1900 in anticipation of the expiry of the last of Edison Bell’s useful patents in 1902. Regardless of patent considerations they started recording and producing records and machines of a very high quality in late 1901.
