The marketing officer of the Art Gallery of Ballarat in Australia (Peter Freund), is preparing an exhibition of the drawings and sketches from a scrapbook kept by the English comedian Lionel Brough. It is known that Brough recorded both on Edison Bell cylinder and on HMV disc. If you have an example of any Brough recording in your collection please contact either Peter Freund direct or any member of the FtR editorial team. Thank you.

Information Wanted

Does anyone know the whereabouts of the Edison original perfected spectacle phonograph of June 16th. 1888. It has been suggested that Col. Gouraud presented it to a British University or Museum. Research is being made into this type of phonograph and any information would be of great help.

Phonofair 2010 

At Powick Village Hall Saturday 26th. June 2010 

This event proved to be a great success. In the morning business was brisk at the many stalls where lots of interesting items were displayed for sale. Throughout the day hot/cold drinks and a selection of food items were available at very reasonable prices. ( Thanks to the ladies ). CAN YOU HELP PLEASE? - CYLINDER LISTING PROJECT 

One of our members, Keith Harrison, is assembling a database of all known cylinders. At present approximately 43,000 cylinders have been included. In the near future, Keith plans to make this database available to members with full search facilities. Your help is needed as follows: 

a). Performer and title information required for 

- Edison Bell pink indestructible cylinders in the 9xxx range 

- International indestructible cylinders 

b). Please also contact Keith if you have any Russell and/or Axton Ruby cylinders for sale or swap.

Listen to a 20in. Pathe disk played on this machine. Colin Armfield created this recording by positioning a microphone near to the horn. The recording is of Billy Williams - orch.acc. 'Jean from Aberdeen', owned by Howard Martin. Issued January 1910, centre start, vertical cut Deleted 1912. Matrix number 78053, Pantograph number 43978 G.R Publisher number? 552 The cover states ''20 in. should be heard at a speed from 120 to 130 revolutions per minute with the 'Pathe - Concert' special diaphragm''
