Phonofair 2011 

At Powick Village Hall Saturday 25th. June 2011 

This event proved to be a great success. In the morning business was brisk at the many stalls where lots of interesting items were displayed for sale. In the afternoon there was a presentation by Richard Taylor with the title 'Eclectic 78s of the 1950s' followed by Christopher Proudfoot and Brian Oakley with the official launch and signing of their new book 'His Master's Gramophone'. The Cylinder Database has now been published and is available as part of the Reference Series ( RS6 ). See main index for details. However, the author - Keith Harrison, is still keen to find further details of Edison Bell pink indestructible cylinders in the 9xxx range and any information/cylinder details of International indestructible. Listen to a 20in. Pathe disk played on this machine. Colin Armfield created this recording by positioning a microphone near to the horn. The recording is of Billy Williams - orch.acc. 'Jean from Aberdeen', owned by Howard Martin. Issued January 1910, centre start, vertical cut Deleted 1912. Matrix number 78053, Pantograph number 43978 G.R Publisher number? 552 The cover states ''20 in. should be heard at a speed from 120 to 130 revolutions per minute with the 'Pathe - Concert' special diaphragm''
